Supporters have been reacting to today’s news that Stoke City are freezing season-card prices for a 13th successive year – but are also restricting free away travel on official coaches to season-card holders only from next season.
Here’s what fans have been saying via our Facebook page on the two issues…
Tom Dodd: Shame for me, I don’t have a season ticket due to shift work meaning I can go to less than half the matches. I’ve gratefully used the free coaches a few times and will miss it.
Andrew Dent: How can anybody moan about free travel? If there’s people who only go to away matches, it’s a shame, but the club is looking after their many season ticket holders, a reward for sticking with Stoke through these bad times.
Kevin Roden: Why not allow season-ticket holders free entry to Delilah’s bar?
Louise Lynn: There’s a lot of fans who just go to away games. Why should it only be to season-card holders? That’s making fans have a season card who might not be able to go home games due to commitments. Think it should be to all who want support them, home or away, and I’m a season card holder.
Victoria Jones: Brilliant idea, has been a long time coming, well done Stoke.
Dave Hall: Tremendous effort by the club.
Dave Bithell: Great idea.
Roy Price: Brilliant idea.
Dave Harley: I have seen this coming for a few seasons now since we got relegated. I’ts to promote ST sales. As a ST holder it won’t affect me, but maybe they could sell an annual away coach travel card based on a discount for none ST holders who choose to go away all the time.
Ant Rob Robinson: A fan is a fan, with or without season ticket, the idea stinks.
Roger Jones: So, so wrong to just give free travel to season ticket holders… Oh and I am a season-ticket holder.
Darren Harding: Has the club given anymore thought on the idea that a season-ticket holder’s name is pulled out of the hat at 1:00 on Saturday home games? The lucky winner gets to play 90 mins, in their preferred position.
