Almost 40 more cases of Covid-19 confirmed across Staffordshire



Dozens more cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed across Staffordshire.

Figures released today show there are now 1,287 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Staffordshire County Council area – which is all of the county apart from Stoke-on-Trent –  up from 1,248 the day before.

There are now 303 cases confirmed in Stoke-on-Trent and 624 across the border in Cheshire East.

As always, the number of unconfirmed cases in each area will be far higher.

There are 129,044 lab confirmed cases across the UK – with 4,301 recorded in today’s government update.

Eleven more people who tested positive for coronavirus at the University Hospitals of North Midlands have died – according to the latest figures released by NHS England.

A total of 139 people have now died with Covid-19 at the Royal Stoke and Stafford’s County Hospital sites since the start of the pandemic – up from the 127 confirmed as of yesterday’s update.

At least 190 people have also been discharged from the hospital after recovering since the beginning of the outbreak.

The number of people who have died at the North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust – which operates Harplands Hospital – remains at one.

Three more deaths have also been confirmed at the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Leighton Hospital in  Crewe – bringing the figure there up to 89.

Another four deaths were reported at at East Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust, which oversees Macclesfield District General Hospital and  Congleton War Memorial Hospital, with 51 people having died after contracting the virus.

In total 17,337 people have now died with Covid-19 in hospitals across the UK.
