Another 45 people die in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire having caught coronavirus



Another 45 people have died in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire having tested positive for coronavirus.

Data released by Public Health England and the Department of Health and Social Care shows that coronavirus claimed nine more lives in Stoke-on-Trent alone.

It means there have now been 518 people to have died within 28 days of receiving a positive coronavirus test result in the city.

Across Staffordshire there have been another 36 coronavirus deaths confirmed as of 4pm today (January 13).

This brings the total number of people to have died within 28 days of receiving a positive coronavirus test to 1,654.

Over the county line in Cheshire East there have been another 10 confirmed coronavirus deaths in the last day. This brings the total to 560.

Across the entire United Kingdom there have been another 1,564 confirmed coronavirus deaths today meaning 84,767 people have now died with coronavirus.

Separate data shows 15 more patients have died at the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals having tested positive for the virus.

It means the number of patients to have died with coronavirus at the two medical facilities now stands at 1,022.

There have also been another five coronavirus deaths at East Cheshire Hospitals and one in Mid Cheshire.
