Armed police descended on a Stoke-on-Trent street this evening.
Officers carrying guns were spotted in Denbigh Street, Hanley, at around 5.30pm today (March 23).
The dog unit was also called to the scene.
Members of the public were asked to remain inside while the situation was resolved.
Police have declined to release further details of what the incident involved but confirmed no arrests have been made.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Jones said: “Firearms officers have just concluded an armed deployment in Denbigh Street.
“There is no ongoing risk and thank you to those of you living nearby for your patience.”
A Staffordshire Police spokesman added: “We were called to Denbigh Street, Cobridge, at 5.27pm.
“Officers remain at the scene but all armed officers have left.
“We are unable to release further details of the incident at this time but would like to reassure people that there is no risk to the public.
“No arrests have been made.”
