Armed police carried out a search after a ‘threatening’ gang fled the scene as trouble flared in Stoke-on-Trent.
Officers carrying guns were called to the Pittshill area after a small group started causing issues.
However, the suspects had already despersed.
One man suffered ‘minor’ injuries in the incident at around 3.40pm this afternoon (May 24).
He was treated by paramedics but it is not yet clear whether he needed to go to hospital.
No arrests have been made at this stage but an investigation is continuing this evening.
Patrols have now been stepped up in the area to reassure residents.
The nature of the threats have not been revealed.
In another unconnected incident, armed police were also called to Whitfield Road, Ball Green, after gunshots were heard at 5.30pm.
And officers carrying firearms were also spotted in Community Drive, Smallthorne, but it is unclear at this stage if it is linked to the Pittshill incident.
Police are now appealing for witnesses.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to a report of threatening behaviour by a small group in the Pittshill area at around 3.40pm this afternoon.
“Firearms officers were deployed to the area but the suspects had left the scene. Officers have then commenced a search in the local area and began inquiries with local residents to gather information.
“One man suffered minor injuries and has received treatment by paramedics.
“There is no threat to the local community, but neighbourhood officers have increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance.”
