Biker taken to hospital after crash on major North Staffordshire road



A biker has been taken hospital after a three-vehicle collision on a major North Staffordshire road.

Tunstall Road in Knypersley was blocked while police, paramedics, and firefighters attended the scene shortly after 10.50am today (September 19).

Officers say the crash initially involved a blue and white motorbike and a blue Volkswagen Polo with a silver Mercedes C2-20 swerving into a wall to avoid the crash.

The biker – who has not been identified – has since been taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 10.50am to reports of a collision involving two cars and a motorbike.

“It appears the second car – the silver Mercedes – swerved to avoid the incident and collided with a wall.

“The motorcyclist was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital by the ambulance service with injuries not thought to be serious.”

Traffic monitoring company INRIX said the road was closed Coronation Avenue and Brown Lees Road – with cars having to divert through Brown Lees.

Officers were able to reopen the busy stretch of road at 12.50pm.
