BMW driver activates 32 speed cameras on M6 after reaching 83mph in roadworks area



Police have caught a speeding driver after their BMW activated 32 speed cameras on the M6.

A patrol from the Central Motorway Policing Group recorded the car driving at an average speed of 83 mph in the roadworks area between Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford.

The driver was detained and the BMW has now been seized for allegedly having no insurance.

The CMPG, which covers the M6, the M6 Toll and the M5 among other motorways, tweeted about the incident.

A spokesman said: “M6 J14-J15 BMW stopped due to activating 32 speed cameras at very high speeds in Staffordshire.

“Whilst we were following it we recorded its average speed of 83mph in the roadworks 60s in thick fog. Driver detained & BMW seized no insurance & x2 bald tyres.”
