A drunken motorist has been arrested after driving along the M6 in Staffordshire with just three functioning tyres.
The Central Motorway Policing Group (CMPG) and North West Motorway Police stopped the driver just after junction 18, near Holmes Chapel, last night (December 25).
They believe the driver had joined the busy stretch of carriageway in Staffordshire after having a few festive drinks.
The motorist – who has not been identified – was then arrested.
A North West Motorway Police spokesman said: “Vehicle reported on the M6 in Staffordshire travelling Northbound as weaving lane to lane and only travelling on three wheels.
“CMPG patrols got behind the vehicle at junction 16 with the assistance of Cheshire Police Road Crime Unit patrols.
“Vehicle stopped at junction 18 and the driver detained after giving a reading of 65.”
