Police are hunting burglars who breached coronavirus lockdown to smash their way inside a Stoke-on-Trent salon.
Burglars broke into The No. 1 Hair and Beauty Salon, in Ford Green Road, Smallthorne, over the weekend.
They removed the bottom panel of the door before crawling inside to steal a hair dryer and straighteners.
It is believed to be the second time the salon has been targeted in the last few months.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward following the incident, which happened in the early hours of Saturday (April 18).
Residents have now spoken of their disgust after hearing about the raid.
One woman said: “It’s such a shame, as if times aren’t hard enough for these businesses. What’s wrong with people, they’re just complete scumbags.
“I hope they’re caught. They need their fingers chopping off one by one and not just a slap on the wrist so they can go do it again.”
And another added: “It’s a shame. They’re just trying to build up a business in Smallthorne and then this happend.
“I think this is the second time this shop has been done and the owner he’s such a nice fella.”
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 8.20am on Saturday to a report of a break-in at a salon on Ford Green Road.
“Sometime overnight offenders forced entry and stole a hairdryer and straighteners.”
Any witnesses or anyone with any information can contact 101, quoting incident number 102 of April 18.
