Caverswall have recruited big-hitting West Indian all-rounder Iraq Thomas for next season.
Thomas, from Trinidad and Tobago, makes the move to the North Staffs and South Cheshire League Division Two club with a reputation for playing impressive innings.
He once scored a 21-ball 100 in a Tobago Cricket Twenty20 competition – which is believed to be a world record.
Thomas’ innings, which came in 2016, saw him eventually finish on 131 off just 31 balls to help his Scarborough/Mason Hall side beat Speyside.
They reached their 152-run target in just eight overs.
Thomas has previous experience of playing in this country after having four seasons in the south west, most notably helping North Somerset side Congresbury win promotion to the West of England Premier League.
Caverswall confirmed the signing on social media, saying: “Iraq has some pretty impressive feats in his cricketing career, notably the record for the most centuries in T20 cricket by a Tobago cricketer, most sixes in a single T20 cricket innings and the very impressive fastest T20 century.
“Also his four previous seasons in the UK has seen him score 2,155 runs with a top score of 141 not out, claiming 108 wickets with top figures of 7-9 and taking 24 catches in the field.
“We hope that all our members will give Iraq a warm welcome should you see him in and around the club next season.
“All the best to Iraq and all our players for the 2021 season.”
Caverswall finished in third place in Division Two this year.
