Families hoping to meet characters from their favourite CBeebies shows will have to wait until next year after their planned appearances were postponed.
The Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) had arranged for characters from Moon and Me and Hey Duggee to visit The Potteries Centre this coming Saturday and again on December 19.
But following advice from Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s public health division, the appearances have been pushed back until 2021.
Richard Buxton, the Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID manager, said those with tickets will be able to use them at the rescheduled events next year.
He added: “We had worked hard with our partners to plan a fun and safe event to spread a little festive cheer.
“However, following advice from the Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s public health division, we have decided to postpone the events until the early part of next year.
“We understand that many families will be disappointed, and this decision has not been taken lightly, however the safety of shoppers and staff continue to be our ultimate priority and we want to guarantee that we are doing everything we can to maintain this.
“Everyone who had tickets will be able to use them when the events are rescheduled next year.
“We have been in touch with everyone who has booked a free ticket for the events and invite those with tickets and the characters back for an event next year.
“We continue to maintain safety measures throughout the city centre, including asking shoppers to wear face coverings and installing dedicated queuing areas for stores.”
