Michael O’Neill is still looking to trim his Stoke City squad – but admits it is proving to be a “slow process”.
Ahead of the 2020-21 season, the Potters have signed the likes of Morgan Fox, James Chester, Steven Fletcher and John Obi Mikel.
There are likely to be more departures, too, with midfielder Badou Ndiaye closing in on a move to Besiktas.
Stoke kicked off their campaign with a penalty shoot-out victory over Blackpool in the Carabao Cup on Saturday.
They get their Sky Bet Championship campaign under way a week on Saturday, September 12, away to Millwall.
Because of the later-than-usual start to the season due to the knock-on effect of the coronavirus shutdown, the summer transfer window has been extended.
The deadline for international registrations is 11pm on Monday, October 5, followed by a two-week domestic-only window which will close at 5pm on Friday, October 16.
So there is still plenty of time left but O’Neill is keen to streamline his first-team squad.
