Coastguard helicopter called to castle as emergency services put cordon in place



A coastguard helicopter has been called to a castle near the Staffordshire/Cheshire border as emergency services attended an incident this afternoon.

Police, paramedics and firefighters have been called to Mow Cop Castle today (Wednesday June 17).

A fire service cordon was put in place at the site.

The helicopter is now reported to have left the scene.

Emergency services are yet to issue any confirmed information about what has occurred.

One local resident told StokeonTrentLive a person was believed to have fallen and may have been injured on the rocks.

She added:  “There were ambulance, police and fire there as well as the coastguard helicopter.

“They have taped it off.”
