Cocaine-snorting Mercedes driver, 25, ordered to pay back £7.7k – after making £31k from dealing drugs on streets of North Staffordshire



Cocaine-snorting Robert Melbourne has been ordered to repay £7,796 after making huge sums of cash from dealing drugs.

The 25-year-old was jailed for 40 months last year after he turned to supplying drugs to feed his own habit.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard officers stopped his Mercedes hire car and recovered £650 from his pockets, a rolled up £20 note with traces of white powder, six bags of cocaine worth between £180 and £300 and £20 worth of cannabis.

A search of his home recovered a further £7,000 along with an ecstasy tablet and ketamine.

Melbourne went on to plead guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A drug cocaine, being concerned in the supply of class B drug cannabis, possession of criminal property, possession of class A drug ecstasy and possession of class B drug ketamine.

Now Judge David Fletcher has ruled the defendant, of Wimberry Drive, Waterhayes, Newcastle, benefited from his criminality by £31,755.78 and made a confiscation order for the available amount of £7,796.

The money must be paid with 28 days or the defendant will serve an extra two months in jail.

The judge ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
