Coronavirus death toll rises across Cheshire hospitals hitting 100 at one trust

The coronavirus death toll has increases across Cheshire as 100 people have now died at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The trust, which runs Leighton Hospital in Crewe, has announced an additional four people have died since yesterday’s Public Health England announcement.

The East Cheshire NHS Trust – which operates Congleton War Memorial and Macclesfield District General Hospital – has announced a patient has died from coronavirus in the past day, bringing the total to 64.

Latest figures released by Public Health England show that 167 people have now died from Covid-19 at the UHNM run Royal Stoke University Hospital in Hartshill and Stafford’s County Hospital. An increase of nine.

The number of people to have died at the Harplands Hospital remains one, while two people have passed away at the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust –  which operates Haywood Hospital, Cheadle Community Hospital, Leek Moorlands Hospital, Bradwell Community Hospital and others.

It’s important to note that this isn’t the number of people who have died in the last 24 hours – it’s the number of people who have died in hospital having contracted coronavirus, included in today’s publicly released figures by the Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England.

Many hospitals will not report deaths that happened over the weekend until the middle of the following week.
