Covid-19: Number of deaths increases at Royal Stoke and County Hospitals



The number of patients who have died after testing positive for coronavirus has incerased at Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital.

According to the latest figures released by Public Health England, 32 people have now died at the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) sites – an increase from 22 the day before.

Meanwhile there have been three more deaths at the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust which runs Leighton Hospital, near Crewe. The number of people dying after testing positive for Covid-19 was 16 today, up from 13 yesterday.

As of 9pm today the Department of Health confirmed 38,168 people had tested positive for the virus across the UK.

The national death toll has now reached 3,605.

The figures do not include those who have died from coronavirus outside hospital (which is likely to be an increasingly significant number).

The latest figures come as Prince Charles officially opened NHS Nightingale – a specially created coronavirus hospital based at the ExCel in London.
