Police officers say a badger may have been killed in a South Cheshire town.
The Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team say the badger is believed to have been the victim of badger baiting.
It comes after it was found dead in a rural area near Crewe.
The exact location was not disclosed but officers now want anyone to report wildlife crimes to the force.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Today we have been shown an area in a rural location of Crewe which is believed to have been subjected to Badger Baiting.
“A dead badger was found with injuries that indicate this would have been the likely cause of death.
“Please continue to report any suspicious activity of this nature during the day or night.”
Anyone who sees anything suspicious should contact Cheshire Police on 101.
