Detectives launch appeal after man assaulted while walking to work through North Staffordshire beauty spot



Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was assaulted while walking to work.

Staffordshire Police say the incident happened at around 4am on Friday (June 5) when a 40-year-old man was walking to work in the car park of Apedale Community Country Park on Blackbank Road, Newcastle.

The victim was approached by two men who assaulted him.

He suffered serious facial injuries during the incident and later required surgery.

One of the males has been described as Asia, late teens, approximately 5ft 10ins tall, slim build with a moustache.

And the second man is described as black and believed to be 18 or 19-years-old. They both wore dark clothing.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “An investigation is underway and anyone with information or anyone who may have seen a black VW Golf in the area at the time is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 058 of 5 June.

“Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
