Drug dealer told to pay £6k of ill-gotten gains (and 9 other stories from court)

Drug dealer Joseph Baggaley has been ordered to repay more money under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The 22-year-old, of Leek Road, Shelton, was jailed for six years in 2018 for two offences of conspiracy to supply a class A drug and dangerous driving.

It was found he benefited from his criminality by £7,058 and he was initially ordered to repay the available amount of £800.

But Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the defendant received some money in a compensation payment.

Now Baggaley has been ordered to pay the balance of £6,258.

Judge David Fletcher said: “The benefit figure was set at £7,058. At that time the available amount was assessed as being £800. It has come to light since that there are further assets and he can be made to pay the full £7,058. The £800 has already been paid. I order the £6,258 to be paid within three months.”
