EFL reveal there have been ten positive COVID-19 tests in the Championship

The EFL have confirmed that ten people at eight different Championship clubs have tested positive for COVID-19.

That is following the latest round of testing in the EFL from 1,058 people that were tested on Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29.

Those players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities.

Clubs in the Championship have made it clear that it is their wish to follow the Premier League’s lead and finish the current season as planned once it is safe to do so.

Stoke City were 17th in the Championship, with nine games to play, when the campaign was suspended in mid-March.

Two people from one club were found to have tested positive on May 24 and three people from two clubs tested positive following testing on May 26 and 27.

The Premier League released their results on Saturday evening too, with no new positive cases in what is a huge boost to Project Restart going ahead as planned on June 17.

There has been no testing programme in League One as yet, while in League Two seven people from three different clubs tested positive from 135 tests carried out.
