An elderly motorist was spotted driving the wrong way up a private stretch of the M6 motorway in Staffordshire.
The Central Motorway Policing Group (CMPG) – a team of traffic cops who patrols the major routes in the Midlands – were called to the M6Toll shortly before 11.30pm yesterday (September 3).
Motorists had raised concerns about a car travelling on the wrong side of the carriageway.
When officers attended the scene they said the driver, an elderly male, appeared to be ‘confused’

A CMPG spokesman said: “Multiple reports of vehicle travelling wrong way on the M6Toll road.
“Vehicle found by us travelling on the correct carriageway, but with a very confused elderly driver.
“The gentleman is being collected by relatives, and the DVSA will revoke his licence.”
