Emergency services called after fire leaves over 1,000 Stoke-on-Trent homes without power



The emergency services were called after a fire on a Stoke-on-Trent road.

Police and firefighters were called to Victoria Road in Fenton shortly before 7pm today (March 18).

Initial reports suggested there was a fire on the highway.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called to Victoria Road at 6.53pm.

“Western Power Distribution were asked to attend.”

Earlier WPD confirmed a ‘high voltage’ incident had left 1,020 homes without power.

All outages are set to be restored by 8.30pm.

A WPD spokesman said: “This is a high voltage incident.

“These incidents tend to be larger, affecting the wider area and could mean your neighbours are off supply too.”
