Emergency services called to fire at Staffordshire chip shop

Firefighters have been called to a fire at a Staffordshire chip shop this evening.

Three fire engines were sent to tackle the fire at Chris’s Fish Bar in the Rising Brook area of Staffordshire shortly after 5pm.

Due to the amount of smoke a number of nearby flats were evacuated, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Firefighters say they have now left the scene and the damage to the property is ‘minimal’.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said:  “The fire was at Chris’s Fish Bar.  It was contained within the extractor ducting.

“Three crews, from Stafford, Eccleshall and Cannock attended.
