Emergency services called to ‘serious collision’ on M6



Emergency services are attending due to a ‘serious collision’ on the M6 motorway in Cheshire this evening.

Inrix, the traffic data company, the accident has taken place on the Northbound carriageway from J17 A534 Old Mill Road (Sandbach/Crewe) to J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich /Holmes Chapel).

Traffic was held between around 6.15pm and 6.30pm – and was briefly being held again as paramedics made their way to the scene.

Two lanes remain closed.

Highways England have confirmed they have been called to a ‘serious collision’ and are at the scene with police and paramedics.

They added:  “Ambulance now at scene and traffic released in lanes 3 and 4.”

A North West Motorway Police spokesman said:  “We are releasing the trapped traffic and then opening up lane 3 and 4 past the scene. Please bear with us. We will get you moving as quick as we can.”
