‘Everything asked of him’ – Dino Visser set to become Port Vale player

Port Vale are set to complete the signing of Dino Visser who impressed again in their 2-1 pre-season friendly win at Nottingham Forest.

The 31 year old South African could even put pen to paper today to confirm he will be part of the squad for the 2020/21 season.

The Vale have had a vacancy for a keeper after Jonny Maddison was released at the end of last season.

Visser has trained with them throughout pre-season and done well in his opportunities.

He moved to England from South Africa last year and spent some time on the books at Exeter City. He then joined Crewe on a short term deal in March but the season was suspended and subsequently cancelled shortly after.

Vale boss John Askey said Visser did well at Forest: “He did everything asked of him. He didn’t have a lot to do but what he did do he was nice and calm and his distribution was good.”

So, Visser will provide cover and competition for established number one Scott Brown and work with Vale’s experienced goalkeeper coach Ronnie Sinclair.

Askey added: “He is a good bloke and he gets on well with Browny and Ronnie. It’s important as a goalkeeper, because they have to work together even though they are competing. So it’s important they get on.”

Vale return to action on Saturday when they are at home to Rochdale in their final pre-season game. The game (3pm) is behind closed doors.
