Mark Bowen is expected to revert to Reading’s sporting director with the Championship club tipped to bring in Aleksandar Stanojevic as their new manager.
Former Stoke City assistant boss Bowen moved from a behind the scenes role to the dug out near the start of last season, safely guiding the side into mid-table.
But a pre-season shake-up is on the cards at the Madejski – just a couple of weeks before the start of the new campaign.
Stanojevic, aged 46, has coached in his home country of Serbia as well as China, Greece and Saudi Arabia.
His most recent job came in the Chinese Super League with Beijing Renhe – the club owned by Reading owner Dai Yongge.
However, he lasted less than a year there having won just four of his 18 matches. He left in July 2019.
The potential change comes after Nigel Howe was sacked as chief executive on Monday evening.
