Chris Kamara will be the first celebrity guest on the second series of revived classic children’s TV show Crackerjack this evening.
The former Stoke City captain, player of the year and, briefly, manager has been signed up to be put to task by energetic hosts Sam Nixon and Mark Rhode.
The show see contestants receive a prize for every correct answer and handed a cabbage if they got it wrong. They then had to hold onto as many as possible.
Sam and Mark also oversee Splatterjack, which involves contestants crank up the pressure on celebrities with general knowledge questions until one of them is covered in slime.
The presenters wrote on Twitter: “Crackerjack is back, Friday 6pm on CBBC. Couldn’t have asked for a better guest than Chris Kamara to be on the first show of series two.
“He really is a lovely, funny, kind man. We need more Kammy’s in the world. We hope you sit in front of the tele as a family and watch.”
Kamara, now a popular presenter for Sky Sports, added: “It’s 5 to 5 and it’s time for Crackerjack!
“I do know that it’s on at 6 o’clock tonight but old habits die hard.
“Hopefully my grandkids will enjoy the pandemonium that Sam and Mark made me do – and can I reiterate they made me do it.”
