Family fined for crashing car on A50 while trying to drive to Stoke-on-Trent to see snow

A family of covidiots have been issued with fines after crashing their car on the A50 while driving to Stoke-on-Trent to see the snow.

The Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit revealed two fire engines, three police cars, two ambulances and a doctor were called to the scene.

Under the rules of the national coronavirus lockdown families are being told to stay at home unless their journey is essential.

But police say the snowhunting motorist lost control of their car after attempting to drive to the city from Leicester in the icy conditions left in the wake of Storm Christopher.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: “Family state they went out for a drive to Stoke from Leicester to experience the snow. Interesting interpretation of Stay At Home.

“Causes three police cars, two ambulances, a doctor car and two fire crews to attend. Yes, tickets were issued.”

Officers did not reveal if anyone was hurt in the crash.

But social media users have slammed the family for attempting the journey.
