Firefighters called after lightning hits home

Firefighters in Cheshire were also called to reports of other buildings being struck by lightning in Prestbury and Macclesfield in the early hours of this morning.

Two fire engines from Crewe were sent to the property on Rope Lane, Wistaston, shortly before 2.30am this morning.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said:  “Firefighters were called following reports of a lightning strike at a property on Rope Lane.

“On arrival they found that plug sockets in the property were damaged but there was no sign of a fire.

“Firefighters checked the property with a thermal imaging camera and handed the scene over to the homeowners.”

Yellow weather warnings for thunderstorms remain in force across Cheshire until Monday evening – with an amber warning also in place across some areas of the country tonight.
