Firefighters have been called to a blaze at a popular beauty spot near to the North Staffordshire border.
A crew from Macclesfield attended Tunstall Road in Congleton at around 6.30pm last night (April 11).
It came after families spotted ‘large plumes of smoke and flames’ coming from the Bosley Cloud.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters arrived to find that the fire had already died down quite a bit, but measured around 8m x 5m and was still burning.
“They used beaters and water backpacks to extinguish the flames, and checked the area for any other seats of fire.
“The crew also dug up and turned over the soil to help put the fire out and, after around an hour and a half, it was fully extinguished.”
No indication was given as to how the fire started.
