Firefighters called to South Cheshire woodland after barbecue blaze



Firefighters were called to a South Cheshire woodland after a barbecue was on fire.

One engine from Crewe attended Dickinson Way in Alsager shortly after 12.44pm yesterday (September 19).

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters attended to a fire near Dickinson Way in Alsager.

“The fire was located in woodland and involved a disposable barbeque. 

“Water was used to put out the fire and dampen down the area.”

Elsewhere an engine attended Groby Road in Crewe to reports of a fire in a field.

The call came in at 12.21am today. Firefighters discovered it was a ‘controlled burning’ but extinguished it as a precaution.
