Firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle fire in a South Cheshire car park.
One crew from Congleton attended the town’s Moor Street shortly before 10.45am today (December 30).
Eyewitnesses report the crew, supported by officers from Cheshire Police, remained on the scene until midday.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters were called to a fire involving a car at a car park in Moor Street, Congleton.
“Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to put out the fire which was in the engine.
“Cylinders were also isolated and crews remained on scene to check the temperature of the vehicle to ensure it didn’t reignite.”
Officers were seen blocking one lane of Mountbatten Way to stop vehicles turning past the scene.
