Firefighters have cordoned off a Stoke-on-Trent street in order to deal with a blaze at a student flat.
Crews were dispatched to the Host halls of residence in Hill Street in Stoke at around 9.30am this morning, before they were later joined by police officers.
Part of the street was taped off as eyewitnesses reported seeing firefighters wearing breathing apparatus enter a nearby building.
The fire was quickly extinguished and an investigation into the cause has been launched.
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called to the scene of a flat fire at a student residence in Hill Street, Stoke, shortly after 9.30am this morning.
“Crews from Newcastle, Longton and Hanley attended and extinguished the blaze with ventilation procedures taking place.
“An investigation into the cause is underway.”
