Firefighters are patrolling the area around a Staffordshire beauty spot after a huge fire broke out.
Families in the Brocton area had been told to keep their doors and windows shut after a fire on Cannock Chase shortly after 5pm yesterday evening (April 21).
After firefighters managed to get the fire under control they have remained at the scene dampening the area and checking for hotspots.
The public are being asked to stay away from the scene.
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Six crews remain at the scene of the grass fire near Brocton on Cannock Chase that firefighters were called to last night.
“Hot spots are being checked and crews are dampening down and patrolling.
“Please avoid the area whilst crews work to make sure the area is safe.”
In total crews from two crews from Cannock, two from Rugeley, and crews from Penkridge, Gnosall, Chase Terrace, Eccleshall, Uttoxeter, Abbotts Bromley and Rising Brook attended.
