Firefighters rescue man following blaze at North Staffordshire house

A man was rescued from a North Staffordshire property by firefighters.

Crews from Hanley, Newcastle, and Burslem were called to Horton Street in Basford at 8.20pm last night (January 6) to reports of a house fire.

On arrival they discovered a man – who has not been identified – was trapped inside the building.

Once rescued he was given oxygen treatment and passed into the care of West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS).

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews from Newcastle, Burslem and Hanley responded to reports of a house fire in Newcastle under Lyme.

“Crews rescued one male from the property.

“He was given Oxygen therapy by fire crews whilst awaiting the arrival of WAMS”
