Firefighters save seven ducklings after they became trapped in drain



Seven ducklings have been rescued after they became trapped inside a drain in a Staffordshire village on Friday (June 19).

Firefighters were called by local residents after they noticed the birds were stuck in the drain on Dimble Lane, Alton.

The firefighters removed a manhole cover to free the ducklings.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said firefighters had been called to the street at 3.50pm.

She said: “The call came in to Dimble Lane, Alton, at 3.50pm on Friday, June 19.

“Firefighters from Cheadle helped local residents to rescue seven little ducklings from a drain.

“They helped to move a manhole cover to free the ducklings.”
