Five fire crews at North Staffordshire grass fire



Five fire engines are currently at the scene of a grass fire in North Staffordshire this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the blaze shortly before 3pm today (Wednesday April 22).

A plume of smoke is visible across nearby areas of Stoke-on-Trent including Bucknall, Abbey Hulton and Northwood – with a number of readers contacting StokeonTrentLive.

The fire is understood to be off Eaves Lane.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said:  “We were called at 2.47pm to Wetley Moor Common, off Eaves Lane, Bucknall.

“Five appliances are there at the moment.

“It seems to be a grass fire.”

People are being asked to avoid the area as firefighters continue to work to bring the blaze under control.
