A former factory manager and shop owner was found dead at home after taking his own life.
Jasbir Singh was found unresponsive in the bedroom of his Lightwood home on July 24.
An inquest heard how the 54-year-old was on anti-depressants and had started drinking alcohol ‘more and more’ in the months leading up to his death.
In a statement, wife Jasvinder Kaur said: “We were married for 35 years and have two children together.
“He was born in India and moved here in 1984. He was self-employed and owned a shop on Fenpark Road. After that he was the manager at the Fox’s Biscuits factory.
“He was on medication for high blood pressure, took anti-depressants, and was in contact with MIND. He was drinking more and more over the months leading up to his death.”
Staffordshire Police were called to the property on Durham Drive at around 1.30pm.
They discovered a half empty bottle of vodka and a number of empty blister packets behind the bed.
North Staffordshire area coroner Emma Serrano delivered a suicide verdict.
She said: “I am satisfied he intended to take his own life.”
