Former Stoke City assistant boss Mark Bowen has left Reading, the club have announced.
The 56-year-old was replaced as Royals manager by ex-Chicago Fire chief Veljko Paunovic on Saturday.
The Berkshire club say Bowen, who was previously sporting director at the Madejski Stadium, was offered a new role but “after careful consideration he has chosen to pursue new opportunities elsewhere”.
“I would like to thank Mark for the hard work he put in as manager and the commitment he showed to our first team affairs before, during and after football’s lockdown situation,” said Reading owner Dai Yongge.
“I would like to wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Bowen took up the manager’s position at Reading after Jose Gomes was sacked last October.
The team were in the Championship relegation zone at the time but ended up moving clear of the drop zone, eventually finishing 14th.
Bowen was Mark Hughes’ number two at Stoke between the summer of 2013 and January 2018.
