Four fire engines were called to a blaze at a scrapyard in North Staffordshire this afternoon (Tuesday March 24).
Fire crews were called to the blaze near Kidsgrove and Red Bull Traffic Lights just after 4pm today.
People living in nearby areas were asked to close their doors and windows while the fire was put out.
The nearby A50 Liverpool Road was shut but has now reopened according to traffic data company Inrix.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters assisted Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service with a large fire at a scrapyard in Lime Kiln Lane.
“There was a large plume of smoke which was affecting Cheshire residents.
“Those living in the Red Bull, Scholar Green and Church Lawton areas were advised to keep all windows and doors shut.
“Fire crews have now left the scene.”
