Four more die at Royal Stoke as UK coronavirus death toll hits 36,675



The coronavirus death toll has increased in the last 24 hours at Stoke-on-Trent’s main hospital.

Latest data released by Public Health England shows there have been 286 deaths at Royal Stoke University Hospital in Hartshill and Stafford’s County Hospital.

The number has increased by four from the 282 deaths announced yesterday.

Five people have lost their lives at the North Staffordshire Combined Trust – which includes the Harplands Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust – which operates Haywood Hospital, Cheadle Community Hospital, Leek Moorlands Hospital, Bradwell Community Hospital and others – the figure has remained at six.

At the Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust – which includes Crewe’s Leighton Hospital – 166 people have now died having been tested positive for coronavirus, an increase of one.

At the East Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust – which looks after Congleton War Memorial Hospital and Macclesfield District General Hospital – the number of deaths remains at 111.

The total number of deaths in the UK now stands at 36,675 – with 282 people dying within the last 24 hours across hospitals and care homes.
