The gritters will be out across Stoke-on-Trent later today as a yellow weather warning has been issued for snow and ice.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council revealed its gritters will be scattering the city streets from midday and will continue through the day as snow has been forecast.
While earlier predictions forecast there could be snow this afternoon (January 7) and lasting well into tomorrow.

It comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning covering the entire nation – including Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire – for snow and ice.
The new weather warning will come in force at 5pm tonight and will last through to midnight tomorrow.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Showers, a mixture of rain sleet and snow, are expected to fall onto frozen surfaces leading to icy stretches forming.
“In addition, a more persistent spell of rain and hill snow is likely to move south across northern England and north Wales during Thursday evening and night. This then gradually moving into parts of central and southwest England and southeast Wales on Friday.
“Whilst ice is expected to be the most widespread hazard, snow is likely in places too. Snow is most likely to fall over The Pennines, North York Moors and the high ground of Wales and southwest England, with 2-5 cm possible here.
“Elsewhere, whilst some snowfall is possible, accumulations are likely to be slight and temporary. Freezing fog patches are also likely to persist and may prove an additional hazard with areas of visibility less than 100 m at times.”
When will it snow?
According to the Met Office Stoke-on-Trent will get a majority of its snow overnight. With the main bulk between 1am and 10am tomorrow morning.
But forecasters at The Weather Channel have now revised their predictions and believe the white stuff will start falling from 11pm lasting until 6pm tomorrow.
