‘Hasn’t he?’ – Neil Warnock’s verdict on Stoke City and Michael O’Neill

Neil Warnock has praised Michael O’Neill for the way he has “galvanised” Stoke City.

The Northern Irishman replaced Nathan Jones at the bet365 Stadium in November, with the club languishing at the foot of the Sky Bet Championship table.

O’Neill has since pulled the Potters out of the bottom three, and Saturday’s 5-1 thumping of Hull City saw them climb to 17th in the standings.

It means Stoke have been beaten just once in their last nine games at home, and former Cardiff City boss Warnock highlighted the importance of keeping the bet365 as a fortress.

“It gets your fans going as well,” Warnock told the Quest TV’s EFL highlights show.

“It is all right winning away, but the home form is important, especially when you are struggling at the bottom end.

“He has come in and galvanised it all, hasn’t he?”

Nick Powell and Sam Clucas both scored braces, while Tyrese Campbell hit a penalty in the first half.

“Clucas has done great and he was always a top player, for me,” said Warnock.

“He is blossoming again now. He is a manager’s player. You know what you’re getting out of him.

“He has that little bit of quality and it will have done him the world of good today, the goals.”
