Rapid-result coronavirus tests are still being carried out over the Christmas and New Year period.
Tests can be booked at JCB Tunstall, within the Genesis Centre, for Boxing Day, December 27 and New Year’s Day; at JCB Cheadle for Boxing Day, December 27, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day; and at Newton House, in Leek, on December 28, 29 and 30.
The sessions are for people with Covid-19 symptoms or those without symptoms who are living in Staffordshire ‘hotspot’ areas. This includes the whole of Newcastle borough as well as Werrington and Cellarhead in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
The mobile testing units are open 10am to 3pm on Boxing Day, 10am to 4pm on New Year’s Day and 8am to 8pm on all other days.
Councillor Dr Johnny McMahon, Staffordshire County Council ‘s cabinet member for health, care and wellbeing, said: “Cases are continuing to rise across the county, and we need to do everything we can to help stop the spread.
“This includes getting a test if people are experiencing coronavirus symptoms, such as a high temperature, cough and loss of taste and/or smell.
“We’re also encouraging people who live in one of our hotspot areas to get a test, whether they are experiencing symptoms or not.
“We can’t afford to be complacent, especially over the festive period, so I would encourage people to stick to the rules and get tested if they are experiencing symptoms or living in a hotspot area.”
