HGV driver suffers minor injuries after colliding with a tree in South Cheshire

A 36-year-old HGV driver suffered minor injuries after crashing into a tree on a South Cheshire road.

Two fire engines from Crewe were called to Crewe Road in Wistaston shortly before 11pm yesterday (December 29).

The road had to be closed in both directions while crews, along with highways officers, dealt with an oil spill from the vehicle.

The driver was assessed by paramedics at the scene.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Fire crews attended to a collision involving a HGV on Crewe Road.

“The HGV had collided with a tree.

“The 36-year-old driver was assessed by paramedics after sustaining injuries believed to be minor. He was then safely extricated from the lorry.

“Crews used absorbent pads to stem oil leaking from the vehicle.

“The road was closed in both directions.”
