‘Humbling’ – Port Vale owners send heartfelt season ticket message

Port Vale owners Carol and Kevin Shananan have thanked the fans for the “humbling” support they have shown in buying their season tickets for the 2020-21 campaign.

The new season will kick off behind closed doors once again due to the coronavirus pandemic – but that has not stopped the Vale faithful from securing their “seats”.

The “early bird” sales period ended today (Monday), and the club have so far sold 3,431 season tickets for 2020-21.

Carol Shananan sent a message to the fans via Instagram, which read: “Today was the final day of the “Early Bird” offer for this year’s season tickets.

“Given that we are in the midst of a global pandemic surrounded by uncertainty for the upcoming season we have never taken for granted any Season Ticket that has been bought.

“We heard from Janet (our Ticket Office Manager) this evening that we had sold 3,431 on general sale which, added to the hospitality and staff tickets has taken us to 3,917. This is only 100 short of of last year’s final total which we are confident we will surpass in the coming weeks. Kevin, I and the rest of the club are overwhelmed and beyond grateful in the trust and support we have been shown by Port Vale fans.

“It is a trust we take very seriously and we have been giving much thought to how we can provide value and repay the faith that has been so generously shown. The challenge is in balancing what we would like to give with what (ever changing) restrictions we have to work within.

“Our Safety team are working tirelessly to interpret the guidelines in a way that allows us to have the maximum possible number of fans in the stadium during home games. We are at an advantage because the capacity of Vale Park is so large but we will still not be able to accommodate many more than the Season Ticket holders we have already.

“We have also looked at the period at the start of the season when we have to play behind closed doors (which is horrible for the players too by the way) and providing Match Passes to stream the game.

“As soon as we know what we are able to provide we will let you know. In the meantime I would just like to reiterate our thanks and appreciation for the support you have all shown. It is, to use Kevin’s word, humbling.

“Like everyone we are now looking forward to watching our team perform on the pitch to give us a new and welcome focus in life!

Up the Vale!”

While no fans are allowed at matches, season ticket holders will be able to stream all games live from the comfort of their own homes for no extra cost.
