Chiquito’s Stoke-on-Trent customers have praised its great food and great service following the news the restaurant won’t reopen once the coronavirus lockdown ends.
The Mexican restaurant, based in The Hive at intu Potteries, will remain shut as the chain’s parent company – The Restaurant Group – went into administration.
Sixty branches across the country will be affected and those customers in Stoke-on-Trent have been devastated by the news.
According to our readers, hundreds of whom shared their thoughts on our Facebook page, and Trip Advisor reviewers, the highlights of the city restaurant are the great food and amazing staff.

One of the last customers, who reviewed the restaurant two weeks ago, said: “Lovely service, quick food and Paige our server was amazing!! Would definitely recommend and come back.”
Another posted: “Good quality grub, great service. Friendly, helpful, going above and beyond. Would definitely visit again.”

One man, who visited on Valentine’s Day said: “Came for Valentine’s, been a few times previously. Always really nice, food is never longer than 15-20 minutes.
“Staff are friendly and best on The Hive complex. Not surprising that it’s busy every time I go.”
Another customer posted: “Sundays are for relaxing and enjoying time with your family! Dave and Paige have done just that. Helped us with our food the VEGAN fajitas are the BEST!!!!
“Paige was so helpful, helping with our daughters peanut allergy, created me a mint tea as there were no herbal teas available, she was friendly, polite and lovely to talk to.
“Dave, has a full blown conversation with our three-year-old about her new bike. That’s the type of service that people look for when eating out: good food, great quality, fun for all the family and genuinely lovely staff. Thank you guys!”
Another added: “Didn’t book but got a table within five minutes on a busy Saturday night. Absolutely amazing! Incredible staff could not be more accommodating and nothing was too much trouble.
“Food was delicious and came out relatively fast. We ordered the enchiladas, the chimichanga, a side of fries and a side of halloumi. Atmosphere was buzzing but we were still able to have a quiet conversation.
“We shared a dessert, which again came out quite fast and was delicious. Our waitress, a young blonde girl, was absolutely lovely with a welcoming smile all evening. Very impressed!!”
One woman said: “Came to Chiquito on a Friday for a pre-cinema meal with my nan. I made a request for quiet table on the bottom floor due to her mobility and so that we could talk well.
“This was honoured and the staff were incredibly friendly. Food was served really quickly and was delicious. Have been here previously for family gatherings and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend this place.”
One customer said: “Upon arrival, my partner and I were instantly greeted and welcomed in to a table, and quickly served.
“Our starters came out within 10 minutes along with drinks which were both perfect. Within five minutes of finishing up, our main meals arrived, which were perfectly presented, warm, and all round on point.
“The servers are outstanding, the food is perfect, and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Would 100 per cent recommend to anyone, either coming in for a ‘date’, as a work group or just with family.”
