‘I ate a box of raw eggs on stage in a kids paddling pool’ – Your memories of Bank Holiday madness at Evergreens


After former nightspot Evergreens was uncovered during work to build a new supermarket hundreds of StokeonTrentLive readers took to social media to share their memories over the weekend.

The abandoned nightspot on Cobridge Road, in Cobridge, was revealed once again after trees and bushes were removed as work gets underway to build a new Lidl.

You all have memories of crazy Bank Holidays spent at Evergeens where one reader said he even ‘ate a box of raw eggs on stage in a kids paddling pool’.

Where as another reader got engaged inside the nightspot.

Stven Bradbury said: “Bank Holiday madness in there, I ate a box of raw eggs on stage in a kids paddling pool once.”

And Jim Simpson said: “My brother was known as dog food Dave after racing against a dog eating a bowl of dog food on stage.”

Many Cooper says she got engaged at the pub.

She said: “My hubby proposed to me in there. We’ve just celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary. OMG where did all those years go?”

Patricia Foy said: “Oh Evergreens, had some brilliant times in there. So sad when it closed.

“And right opposite was The Drop Inn. Another lovely little pub we used to use. Then on to The Out Of Town up Hanley duck. Happy days, lasting memories.”

Sam Johnson said: “Loved Evergreens back in the late 80s, had some brilliant times in there.”

Paul Regan said: “Some good nights in here especially Sunday night and Bank Holiday Monday.”
