If you can’t get out to the shops to buy food and have been unable to book a home delivery slot then Morrisons may well have the answer for you.
The supermarket chain has introduced a food box delivery service priced £30 plus £5 for home delivery via courier.
Shoppers simply purchase the box online, choose their preferred delivery day and then wait for an email confirming the delivery slot.
So what’s the difference between a food box and a normal home delivery shop? With a Morrisons food box the customer doesn’t get to decide exactly what is delivered, but the chances of securing a delivery quickly are increased.
Customers specify whether or not they eat meat, but there is not currently an option for vegans or other people with special dietary requirements such as food allergies.
I ordered a food box online during my lunch break and it was delivered to my home at lunchtime the following day.
A large Morrisons-branded cardboard box was delivered to my door by a DPD courier, who politely kept his distance didn’t ask for a signature.
The box contained a thank you note from Morrisons and was divided in chilled and non-chilled sections, with ice packs and wool packaging to keep the chilled food cold.
The food included will vary but I received:
A loaf of Morrisons medium white sliced bread
A tub of Morrisons tomato and basil pasta sauce
A tin of Branston baked beans
A can of Morrisons tomato soup
A can of Morrisons vegetable soup
A bottle of Cravendale extended-life milk
A packet of Morrisons long grain rice
A pack of Morrisons unsalted butter
10 rashers of Morrisons unsmoked back bacon
A pack of steak mince
3 large onions
A pack of carrots
6 Morrisons The Best sausages
3 large peppers
A Pack of Cathedral City mature cheddar
A pack of chicken breast fillets
A head of broccoli
4 slices of cooked ham
A pack of Savers penne pasta
A bag of new potatoes
4 shea butter toilet rolls
2 kitchen towel rolls
Everything was sensible, practical and had a good shelf. It was the sort of food I’d have chosen myself and it felt good value for my £35.
Visit www.morrisons.com to place an order. I’d recommend registering with the website and logging into your account before trying to order a food box. You may need to refresh the food box page a few times. Demand is high so try to be patient.
