Michael O’Neill has revealed the latest on James McClean ahead of this weekend’s trip to Reading.
“James has been on the training pitch today,” said O’Neill, “but still with the medical team, he’s not back in training yet.
“He seems to be progressing quite well. He had a little setback last week, so we had to ease off on him a little bit.
“The good thing about James is that he is desperate to play. He’s pushing very hard to get back and be in contention for selection.
“We’ve just had to manage Sam Vokes a bit this week (slight calf strain) and we will see how he is tomorrow before making a decision on Saturday.
“We’ve just had to sit him out of training for a couple of days to give him the best chance possible.”
Jordan Cousins has recovered from the cut foot which kept him out against Hull last weekend and appears primed to return for the injured Joe Allen.
